David M. Barnett died at 9 o'clock Thursday morning in the home, 1704 North Church Street, of a complication of diseases. He was 80 years old. He was at one time a nursery agent but had lived a retired life for several years.
Mr. Barnett was born in Pennsylbania Jan. 22, 1835. He had lived in Macon County for the last 65 years. He was a member of the First United Brethren Church. He was first married to Miss Leah Strohm and later to Catherine Bergen.
He leaves his widow and the following children: Edward Barnett of Osbernville, Frank Barnett of Decatur, Louis Barnett of Mendota and four step children, Mrs. Louis Nauman of Harristown, Mr. H. S. Gebhart, Mrs. S. P. Sheibley and Milton Bergen of Decatur. He also leaves three brothers and one sister, G.M. Barnett and Mrs. Barbara Stare of Decatur, John Barnett of Kansas and Henry Barnett of California.
