Arminda (Minnie) Barton Peckenpaugh Chiles (almost 54) was the second child of eleven children born to Harvey Barton Peckenpaugh and Sarah Ann Lyon of Cameron, IL.

Her lineage is as follows: Aminda⁵ Barton Peckenpaugh (Harvey⁴ Barton Peckenpaugh, Henry³ Peckenpaugh , George² Peter Peckenpaugh, Johan¹ Adam Beckenbach).

When Minnie was 13 yrs. old, her parents came to Harrison county, Iowa in Nov. 1867 and settled near Reeder's Mill, Jefferson Township, where her father worked in a sawmill.

In December 28, 1869 in Harrison County, Iowa , she was united in marriage to William M. CHILES, who was a son of Isaac and Eliza Jane (Stoner) CHILDS, who were the parents of four sons—Andrew, William, George and Joseph. The parents were natives of Ohio.

After their marriage, her husband worked on his father, Isaac Childs', farm one year, when he bought eighty acres of wild land, of which he broke about fifty acres the first year, also built a house 14x18 feet, one story in height; built outbuildings, etc.

This comprises a part of Mrs. Minnie CHILES' present farm, which now consists of one hundred and twenty acres, all under a high state of cultivation. When Minnie was older she had a farm of 120 acres all under a high state of cultivation.
They had five children:
1. Emmet M. Chiles b. Jan 12, 1871, Harrison Co. m. Nellie Ada Landingham & lived in Cherokee, Iowa. He died Dec. 1935.
2. Charles "Charley" Newton Chiles b. Fe. 15, 1873 Harrison Co. IA d. Jun 23, 1951 m. Hattie Gosse.
3. Lulie Belle Chiles (81) b. Oct. 5, 1874 in Harrison Co. IA m. Sam Wood, (div) moved to Washington State d. July 28, 1955, Spokane, WA cause of death:

4. Andrew Jackson Chiles b. Oct. 8 1876 in Harrison Co. Iowa d. Mar. 4, 1935 buried Woodbine, Harrison Co. IA m. Ap. 10, 1910 to Mary Josephine Lindsay. 4 children

Mrs. Minnie CHILES, wife of William CHILES, deceased, and a resident of sections 11 and 12, in Union Township, where she owns one hundred and twenty acres, came to Harrison County in the month of November, 1867, in company with her parents, who settled near Reeder's Mills, in Jefferson Township, where her father worked in a sawmill.

Her father came to Illinois in 1831 and to Iowa in 1867. They reared a family of eleven children, as follows: Rose A., Arminda "Minnie", Clarissa, Bell, Hettie, Ellen, Lillie, Stella, William A., Elza and Bird.
Mr. William M. CHILES was born Jun. 30, 1846 in Indiana and lived in Harrison County, Iowa thirty years of his life and died January 31, 1888.
