Lola L. Nelson
Lola L. Nelson, 92, of Payette, ID, passed away Tuesday morning, March 27, at Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario, OR.
Funeral services were held Sat., March 31, at Deer Flat Free Methodist Church in Caldwell, ID.
Lola was born Nov. 13, 1908 at Damascus, OR to William and Myrta Lingle. She attended Seattle Pacific College, graduating in 1933. At Seattle Pacific, she met Royal Nelson from Deer Flat. They were married Nov. 10, 1933.
For 60 years, she served with her husband, pastoring Free Methodist churches in Sanders and Deer Flat, ID and in Washington state; at the Free Methodist headquarters in Winona Lake, IN, and as district leader in northern California. She was a gracious homemaker and found enjoyment entertaining friends and extended family members in her home.
In 1980, Lola and Royal moved to Warm Beach Senior Community. Then in 1997, after her husband's death, she moved to her daughter's home in Payette, ID.
She is survived and will be missed by her four children and their spouses; Gene and Roberta Nelson of Indianapolis, IN; Wes and Leona Nelson of Santa Cruz, CA; Keith and MaraLei Nelson of Alameda, CA; susan and Bill Hodgson of Payette, ID; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Sat., April 14, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood. Rev. Jeff Horton will officiate.
