Wayne V. Dowling
The Rev. G. Lavon Fisher will conduct services at 10 a.m. Friday at 504 W. Third St., for Wayne V. Dowling, 42, 1528 Factory Ave., who died at home at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Dr. V.Logan Love, acting coroner.
Mr. Dowling was awarded the Purple Heart for his service as an Air Force gunner during the African, Sicily and Normandy campaigns of World War II. He was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge.
Surviving are the widow, Rhoda; a son, Robert, Marion, and three sisters, Mrs. Philip Johnson, Ososso, Mich., Mrs. Ross Hazel, Frankford, and Mrs. Robert Smoot, Franklin, Ohio.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.
