Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock for John V. Barber, 66, who died Monday, April 29, after a short illness. Although Mr. Barber had not enjoyed the best of health for the past year, he was able to be up and out until Friday when he was carried to the Limestone County Hospital.
Bro. M. A. Creel of Cullman, minister of the Church of Christ, conducted the services from McConnell Chapel and interment was in the City Cemetery, McConnell directing.
Mr. Barber was born and reared in Limestone County and was the son of the late J. W. and Elizabeth Barber.
He is survived by his widow, Mary Hagood Barber; one son, Wallace Barber; two grandchildren, Charles and Edith Barber; four sisters, Mrs. Andrew Bullington, Mrs. Eddie Bullington, Mrs. Lee Andrew Nelson, all of Limestone County and Mrs. Howard Humphrey of California.
