S G. BILLINGTON SERVICES Held


Funeral services were conducted from the Texico Baptist Church for Sterling G. Billington, 83, Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Rev. Leroy Looper and Rev. J. L. Bass officiated at last rites, and burial was in Texico cemetery directed by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Mr. Billington, a resident of Texico for some 30 years, passed away in Clovis Memorial Hospital early Wednesday morning where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Mr. Billington was born in Leon County, Texas, April 22, 1884 and moved to Limestone County at the age of 17. He later moved to the Oklahoma Indian Territory via covered wagon with his parents. He was married to Mary Catherine Morgan, November 18, 1906. Mrs. Billington preceded her husband in death in 1962. A retired farmer, Mr. Billington was a member of the Baptist church and was an active member of the Texico Baptist Church at time of his death.

Survivors include five sons, Sterlyn O., Farwell, Victor, Lubbock, Morgan, Texico, Cortez, Olympia, Wash., Jim, Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Inez Montgomery, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Vervice Hulsey, Downey, Calif., and Mrs. Juanita Mussetti, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; two brothers, E. T. of Waco and E. K. of Redondo Beach, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers at the final rites were Mike Billington, Mike Hulsey, Eddie Traxson, Leonard Williams, Travis Brown, Ray West and Robert Armstrong.
