She was born Jan 8, 1924 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of A.G. and Jennie Hughes Brockbank. She was reared in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah where she was affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega Soroity.
She married Dr. M. Paul Southwick Sept 7, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and worked to help him through medical school. On completion of his training in 1951, they moved to Ogden where she lived and devoted her life to Paul and her nine children. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, devoting herself to teaching and leading in many positions. She was affiliated with the Junior League and the Weber County Medical Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband; eight children, Rod (Tam), Craig (Jan), Selinda (Steve) Powell, all of Ogden, David (Cindi), Draper, Sue (Rob) Alley, Ogden, Chris (Jill) Grand Blanc, MI, Jon (Annette), Kaysville, Lane (Lori), Layton; 34 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, W. Hughes (Lee) Brockbank, Corondo, CA. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shauna, and one grandson, Shane.

Services will be Wed. 11 a.m. Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary Tues. 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1414 E. 4500 S., Holladay, UT 84117.
