Blood Poison From a Scratch on the Hand Is the Cause of Death

Shaunavon, March 11-The death of John Frederick HIll, esteemed citizin of Shaunavon, occurred at Shaunavon Union hospital last week. The late Mr. Hill was born at Port Huron, St. Clair Co., Mich., January 8, 1850, and at his death was 78 years of age.

He came from Sarles, North Dakota, to Canada in 1907, filing on a homestead in the Leitchville district, where he resided, and farmed successfully until he came to Shaunavon seven years ago. Deceased was one of the first men to file on land south of the Swift Current creek.

Mr. Hill had been ailing for two years after a serious operation. He had heart disease but blood poisoning was the cause of his death. He scratched his hand and infection set in.

Deceased is survived by his widow, three sons, Clyde and Earl, Leitchville district, and Clesson, of Avondale, Montana. The funeral service, which was largely attended, was held at the United church, Shaunavon, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Frank Coop. The body was laid in HIllcrest cemetery. The floral tributes were numerous.
