Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, April 2, 1918, pg 1 col 3: Old Time Cherokee Resident is Dead. Oroville, April 1. – Mrs. Mary Jane Adams, resident of Butte county for the past thirty-seven years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.R. McCloud, at 710 Seventh avenue. Death was caused by pneumonia.

Mrs. Adams was eighty-two years old. She was a native of Illinois and came to this State some thirty-seven years ago, settling at Cherokee, but moved to Oroville fifteen years ago.

She is survived by a single daughter, Mrs. McCloud. Her husband, the late Robert M. McCloud [sic: Adams], died some years ago. The funeral was held this morning from the undertaking parlors of Hamilton & Riley. Interment was made in the Cherokee Cemetery.
