Van Gorrell Jones of Sedalia, MO, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. He was born February 13, 1924 and lived at the Jones Farm in Northeast Pettis County. Van was the son of H. Clay and Virginia Gorrell Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Bob of the home; Catherine and David Tatum of Germantown, TN, David and Sidne Jones of Salt Lake City, UT, Spencer and Maria Rodriguez Jones of Leawood, KS, and Nancy Jones of Kansas City, KS; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Meyers of Dayton, OH; and a brother, Charles Jones of Rockford, IL.

Van was a life long resident of Pettis County. He was a member and past Elder of Broadway Presbyterian Church. Van was past-president of Pettis County Historical Society and past member of Kiwanis. His interests included history, genealogy, and the conservation of nature.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Broadway Presbyterian Church with Rev. Nancy Carle and Rev. Harvel Sanders officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 5:30 p.m.�7:30 p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
