Mrs. Amanda M. Breighner, 87, of Gettysburg of Gettysburg, formerly of New Oxford, died at the Warner hospital, Wednesday evening at 10:30 o'clock from complication of diseases. She had been in ill health for a number of years and was admitted to the hospital on December 26. Mrs. Breighner was a native of Adams county, a daughter of the late Gregory and Jane S. (Cromer) Topper. She resided in Gettysburg about 50 years. Her husband, Pius G. Breighner, died January 13, 1920. The deceased was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic church. Mrs. Breighner had recollections of the Battle of Gettysburg, having resided in Liberty township at that time. Surviving are six children, Miss Rhoda M. Breighner, Miss Elizabeth G. Breighner and C. Joseph Breighner, all at home; Martin B. Breighner, Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Joseph Gaffney and Mrs. Frank J. McLaughlin, both of Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and one brother, David B. Topper, York.
