To the memory of Elder Josiah Crenshaw Nance, Eldest son of William Howe Nance
and Elisabeth Venable Nance. Born in Virginia February 19, 1804. Captain of
state militia in youth. Ordained a minister in Primitive Baptist Church in
1830. Died November 1, 1865 in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
