Gregory Keith Baderschneider of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, entered eternal life on Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2008. He was 54 years old.

Gregory was the son of Keith and Barbara Baderschneider of Cadillac, Michigan, and the stepson of Kathy Baderschneider. He is the grandson of my Uncle Henry and Aunt Antoinette Baderschneider.

From the Morning Sun in Mt. Pleasant:

Nov 27, 1953-Oct 12, 2008

Greg was a no-nonsense man who inspired and touched everyone he met. He lived his life as a passionate and determined outdoorsmen. He combined straight talk with an uncanny ability to listen to everyone and make everything he touched better. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and coworkers.

Greg was born in Cadillac, Michigan to Keith and Barbara Baderschneider and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1971. He enlisted in the Marine Corps. After completing his tour of duty in Hawaii, Greg returned to Michigan to continue his career. He worked in the Isabella County Park system from 1978-1990, finishing his degree at CMU during this time. In 1990, he began his career with the city of Mt. Pleasant. Greg played an integral role in the completion of many significant projects and the development of many of the city's showpiece parks.

Greg married Pattie McCann on September 12, 1981 at Herrick Park. They had three daughters, Samantha, Shaina and Jessie. His life was dedicated to what he loved most… family, work, hunting, golfing, carpentry and beer. A true jack of all trades, a "to-the-point", no drama man who inspired and touched everyone he met. Greg is survived by his wife Pattie and three daughters Samantha, Shaina, and Jessie, sister Jean Baderschneider of Washington D.C., step-mother Kathleen Baderschneider of Cadillac, MI and mother-in-law Lois McCann of Mount Pleasant.

Greg Baderschneider, 54, died Sunday evening of a heart attack while clearing woods at the family cabin in Tustin, MI. Greg is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara, brother David, father Keith, sister Sue, father-in-law Tom McCann, cousin, Scott Smith, and Uncle Bill Smith.

Never having been a conventional man, he always wanted his death to be a celebration of life. His big beard, tight hugs, and deep laugh will be remembered always. Instead of formal funeral services, come help us celebrate the life of a father, husband, brother, friend and hero. The "party" will be held "up North" on Saturday October 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the family cabin on Diamond Lake (address is 19162 Pine Street, Tustin, MI 49688).

Instead of flowers, donations may be sent to the Greg Baderschneider Scholarship Fund at Isabella Bank, 200 East Broadway, Mount Pleasant, MI 48858.
