Mrs Jane Coffman, one of the pioneer residents of Tippecanoe county, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. She had gone from Montmorenci to Otterbein to have some teeth pulled and was returning home with her son, Arthur, and her grandson when she was suddenly stricken with heat trouble. She died without a struggle. At the time she was stricken she was talking to her son and seemed to be in good health. She was carried into the home of Harry Rutz near otterbein and Dr R V Hannell, coroner, was called. He attributed death to valvular hear trouble. Jane Coffman was 76 years old and was born near Montmorenci, where her parents moved from the east. She spent her entire live in that neighborhood and was one of the best known women in that section of the country. She was the widow of Isaac Coffman a well known farmer, who died twenty years ago. She had been making her home with her son, Arthur Coffman, and family for the past several years. Besides the son, with whom she had been living she leaves the following children: all in the same neighborhood: George, Joseph and Lida Coffman, Mrs Minnie Sherman and Mrs Jerry Thomas. The deceased was a member of the United Brethren church and was a devout Christian. She was a woman of excellent Character and was known throughout this section of the county as a woman of lovable traits and disposition. The funeral will be conducted from the home of Arthur Coffman to-morrow afternoon at 1 o'clock and will be private. Rev Olin Stuart, pastor of the Montmorenci Methodist church will officiate. The interment will be in the Montmorenci cemetery. Contributed.
