Mrs. Jane Hamilton Perkins, 80, of 1421 Taney Ave., Frederick, died on Monday, Nov 29, at her home. She was the former wife of the late Harold Richard Perkins Sr.
Born in Frederick on Dec. 23, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Della Mae Stone Hamilton. Mrs. Perkins had worked for many years at the Muse Tailoring Co., and as a clerk for the Blue Ridge News Agency. She was a member of the Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church and the Auxiliary to American Legion Post 11. Mrs. Perkins was very active in the Taney Village Social Club. She enjoyed quilting, crafting and was an avid bingo and card player.
Surviving are one son, Harold Richard Perkins Jr. and wife Esther of Frederick; one daughter, Sandra Jane Sos and husband Tony of Frederick: two sisters, Helen Louise Steinhaus and Ruth Adelia Finneyfrock, both of Frederick; five grandchildren, Angelina J. Fogle and husband Jim, Amy J. Hill and husband Chris, Michael L. Perkins, Nita L. Hyser and husband Chris, and Robin G. Wolfe; 10 great-grandchildren, Heather Wolfe. Timothy Wolfe, Tommy Wolfe, Bradley Faircloth, Emily Hyser, Megan Hyser, Amanda Perkins, Tyler A. Hill, Jacob R. Fogle and Jessica N. Fogle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Harold Richard Perkins III; five brothers, Harry H., Chester S., William R., George E. and infant Hamilton; and four sisters, Ellen R. Albaugh, Mary G. Cashour, Maude O. Small and Mildred V. Brooks.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. in Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Lerry W. Fogle, associate pastor of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
