"FOUR PERSONS ARE WOUNDED – Three Men and a Boy Shot, One of Them Probably Fatally – Man Held Pending Results –
"Stephenville, Tex., Dec 1 – Yesterday about 10 o'clock at Bluffdale, in this county, L. M. Woodall, armed with a shotgun loaded with buckshot and a pistol, walked up to where John Barron, Lum Barron, John Sweeks and his 11-year-old boy were near the depot and began firing at the older Sweeks and Barrons. "John Barron was shot in the back, there being forty-nine shot from the neck to his knees. He is seriously wounded. "Lum Barron was hit with one shot, but not hurt much. "John Sweeks was hit in the eye and abdomen and is very dangerously hurt, and is not expected to live. His 11-year-old boy was hit with two shot.
"Woodall then began shooting with the pistol, but missed his aim. "Woodall was arrested and brought here and placed in jail, and today sued out a writ of habeas corpus before Judge W J Oxford, who granted him bail in the sum of $1,000 in each case of assault with intent to murder the three first named parties, and remanded him to jail in the case of John Sweeks, pending a further report on his condition, as it is thought he will die. "There are all related by marriage, Woodall having married a sister of the Barrons, and Sweeks also being a brother-in-law of the Barrons. "The shooting is the outcome of some previous trouble between the parties."
