He was born June 15, 1928, in Las Cruces to Pedro and Jacinta Uranga Baldonado. Mr. Baldonado was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Nieto and husband, Leo, Tessie Bencomo all of Las Cruces; two brothers, Victor Baldonado of Las Cruces and Manuel Baldonado of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Manuela Amador of El Paso, Texas, Elma Cardon, Merlinda Tirre and Demecia Barela all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Leo Nieto, Jr., Linda Miramontes, Laura Brownfield, Richard Reyna and Lisette Bencomo; 10 great-grandchildren, Brian, Edward, Devon and Leann Nieto, Matthew and Megan Miramontes, Jacinta Bencomo, Gabriel Montoya, Kelsey and Layla Brownfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maggie Baldonado; two brothers, Willie and Ramon Baldonado; a sister, Angela Isaac.
Visitation for Mr. Baldonado will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the same church with Rev. Sean Garrity officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife.
Serving as casket bearers will be Larry, Jerry, Willie and Victor Baldonado Jr., Gabe Montoya, Shawn Brownfield, Leo Nieto, Jr. and Juan Machuca. Honorary bearers will be Richard Reyna, Victor Sr., Manuel and Joe Baldonado.
