Dora Belle Murphy, 87, of Franklin died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Murphy was born March 20, 1917, in Zigler (now Franklin) and was a daughter of the late Isaac Perry and Lucy Vandevander Hartman.

She was a homemaker and was formerly employed at the Franklin Garment Factory. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Franklin.

Her husband, Earl Newton Murphy, preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1985. She is survived by a daughter Lois Huffman of Fort Seybert; two sons, Gerald Murphy and Grayson Murphy, both of Franklin; a sister, Virgie Simmons of Franklin; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Grayson Murphy, Jr.; four brothers, Harry, Thomas "Tom", Charles "Charlie" and Arthur Hartman; and eight sisters, Buanna Judy, Nettie Moyers, Mary Johnston, Martha Simmons, Gertie Lambert, Fannie Bodkin, Bessie Lambert and Rettie Pennington.

Bishops David Hartman and Larry Hartman conducted the funeral Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Franklin. Burial was at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin by Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pendleton County Rescue Squad or Pendleton Nursing Home.
