OBITUARY FROM THE CHEROKEE ADVANCE CANTON, 17 Apr 1896:

Miss Narcusa(sic) Whitfield, sister of Mrs. Fayette Stancil, died of heart failure brought on by the excitement and shock she received upon seeing the burned body of Maud Stancil, her niece. She was about 40 yeares old and lived in Pickens County.
