Mrs. Samuel Shuler, of Denver
Catherine, wide of Samuel Shuler, of Denver and one of the oldest residents of that borough, died Thursday evening, 35th ult., after a lingering illness due to general debility. She was the daughter of Jacob Leisey and was born in what was then Cocalico township, near Denver on August 25th, 1831, so that she was exactly seventy-nine years if age at the time of her death. Her aged husband, two sons, two daughters, seventeen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren survive, the following being the children: John Shuler, of Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Mary Beckey, of Reading; Mrs. Kindt of Shamokin; and Samuel Shuler, residing somewhere in the West. The deceased had been a member of the United Brethren church for many years. The funeral was held from her home on Union Street, Denver, on Tuesday morning, with services in Trinity United Brethren church of that borough. Rev. W.W. Fridenger, pastor of the church and Rev. C.E. Boughter, of this borough officiated. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery, Denver. Funeral director H.M. Mellinger, of Denver had charge.
