John Franklin Swann was a Roane County Sheriff's Deputy killed in the line of duty. He was killed along with Constable James A. Jett by moonshiners as they attempted to raid an illegal moonshine still. His name, and that of Constable Jett are listed on the Roane County Fallen Officers Memorial in Riverfront Park in Harriman. John was added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC on May 13, 2009. He is on panel 42 East, Line 26. http://www.nleomf.org
