Last Rites Will Be Held Sunday
Funeral services for Frank Ray, 79 years old, who died early Thursday evening at the Reid Memorial hospital, where he had been removed from his home, 1914 Main street, will be conducted Sunday. Services will be held at 2:30 o'clock in the Stegall funeral home where friends may call at any time. Interment will be made in Earlham cemetery. Death followed a lingering illness.
The local post of the American Legion bears the name of his son, Harry Ray, who was killed in action during the World war.
Mr. Ray was employed by the former Gear, Scott & Co., for a number of years, and later by the Municipal Electric Light plant and the city street department.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Mary A. Ray; son, Herbert Ray, local chief of police; four daughters, Mrs. Tinnie Matthews, Richmond; Mrs. Irene Arnold, Birmingham, Ala.; Mrs. Albert J. Smith, Waahington, and Mrs. Howard Hols, Cleveland,
Ohio, and two grandchildren, Ray Matthews and June Matthews.
