E. Marvin Meyer

E. Marvin Meyer was born August 15, 1926, in Diamond Lake Township to Christ and Carrie (Christensen) Meyer. He was baptized Sept. 5, 1926 and confirmed on April 28, 1940 at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church in Diamond lake Township. He attended country school. He served in the United States Navy from April 12, 1946 through February 7, 1948.

On April 30, 1949 he was united in marriage to Faye Salzman in Canton, South Dakota. Marvin worked for Old Home Bakery in Sioux Falls from 1948 to the spring of 1951. He then farmed in Diamond Lake Township until 1979. Marvin retired from farming and he and Faye moved into their new home on Highway 75 north of Lake Benton. Marvin was employed at Marti Hardware in Lake Benton for many years. He owned and operated Meyer Custom Combining from 1979 throug 1995. Marvin also worked for Veire's Custom Spraying and was still active as a volunteer driver for Lincoln County Transportation. Marvin's hobbies included hunting, trapping, fishing, bird watching, wood working and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton; the Lake Benton American Legion, Sportsman Club and served on the Diamond Lake Cemetery Board for many years recently becoming treasurer.

On June 5, 2002, E. Marvin Meyer died at the Tyler Hospital at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 20 days.

He is survived by his wife Faye of Lake Benton, children; Jill (Paul) Borresen of Tyler, Connie (Brent) Bressler of Lake Benton, Terry (Anthony) Savas of El Dorado Hills, CA, and Richard Meyer of Jasper, ten grandchildren; Chet (LuAnn) Borresen, Troy Borresen, Chris (Cara) Bressler, Carrie Bressler, Chad Tittle, Rachel Savas, Nikkos Savas, Jessica Meyer, Joshua Meyer and Joanna Meyer; two great grandhildren, Marissa & Carter Bressler. He is also survived by siblings; Harlan (Geraldine) Meyer of Lake Benton, Marian Johnson of Richmond, CA., Naomi (Robert) Bauman of Sioux Falls, Shirley Darnell of Sioux Falls and sister-in-law Marjorie Meyer of Lake Benton and many nieces nephews and friends.

He was preceded in-death by his parents, brother Ivan, and son Douglas.
