William J. Haveron died during the Spanish influenza pandemic of acute endocarditis. At the time of his death in 1919, he and his wife Annie (nee McCarthy) along with their surviving children (six daughters) lived at 47 E. 128th Street in Manhattan.

He is buried with his sister Veronica who died in 1891 and his daughter Veronica Josephine who died in 1908. Their names were never engraved on the headstone. He is also buried with his mother (Lizzie Haveron, nee Wallace), his mother's mother (Mary Hunter), his mother's stepfather (Joseph Hunter), and his mother's half-brothers (William and Joseph Hunter, Jr.). His wife, three of their seven daughters, and a son-in-law are buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
