Ezekiel Dunham departed this life at Bernhards Bay Feb. 6th, 1878, after a long, severe illness of three months. He bore is sickness with Christian patience and quietly passed away in a sweet and peaceful rest. On Friday, the 8th his funeral discourse was delivered at the church of Constantia Center by Rev. M. Wells, of Durhamville. A large circle of friends and relatives met to take the last look at the remains of one who had been a shining light in our home and to the world, and many a lingering look was given and tear shed by those who had come to pay the last sad tribute of affection. After the services the funeral proceeded to Maple Flats burial ground, where he was laid in is final resting place, leaving a wife and seven children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father.
O, yes we miss you, dearest father. Miss your kind and gentle smile. Miss you morning, noon and evening. Yes we miss you all the while. You it was that cherished our household. With each burden taking part. Bringing sunshine to the gloomy. Comfort to the aching heart. But 'tis wrong in us to murmur, when we know it's for the best. Close beside you, gentle Saviour, then our loved one is at rest Dearest father, thou has left us. Have thy loss we deeply feel. But 'tis God that hath berett us. He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet you. When the day of life is fled. Then in heaven with you to greet you, where no farewell tears are shed.
