Katharina,aka Catherine, was the daughter of Clemens and Mary Neiseus. She believed in education and before her marriage was a schoolteacher. In 1880 she married Phillip Willems in an arranged marriage. Together they had nine children with the first ones born in Luxembourg and the last in Arkansas. Her teaching skills came in handy during the family's many moves as she was able to keep the children all up on their studies.
