Katherine Alford Hyman, 81, died Friday, October 16, 1998, at her home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 18, 1998 at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon.

Mrs. Hyman was born in Rowland, North Carolina, on November 3, 1916, a daughter of the late Sion Walter and Ada Gertrude Williams Alford. She attended WC-UNC at Greensboro, NC, and the Washington Secretarial School in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Hyman was married to the late Lewis Bernard Hyman and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Women's Morning Circle.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Alford McCutcheon of Dillon, stepsons, Lewis Bernard Hyman, Jr. of Greenville, Delaware, and J. Charles Hyman of Columbia, nieces, Anna Katherine Bass of Dillon, Elizabeth McCutcheon Rozier of Myrtle Beach, and Suzanne Bell McLaurin of Dillon, nephews, O. Kenneth McCutcheon of Gastonia, NC, G.H. Bell, III of Savannah, GA, and Sion Alford of High Point, NC, several great-nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. A sister, Ada "Widdy" Alford Bell, preceded her in death.
