A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Arthur Samuel and Leatha Willis Berry, both buried in the Berry Family Cemetery.
Mr. Berry was retired due to injury at work which left him disabled.
He was a member of Eastview Free Will Baptist Church, Johnson City.
William served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Bolling Berry; three daughters , Pam (David)London, Hickory, N.C., Laura (Brian) Bradford, Bluff City, and Sunshine Berry, Morganton, N.C.;
four sons, Robert (Shannon)Berry and Jeremy (Heather)Berry,
all of Bluff City, David (Dianthe)Berry, Fort Benning,
Ga., and Steven (Kay)Berry, Hickory, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; five brothers, Rev. L.D. Berry, Hampton, Troy and Mack Berry, both of Elizabethton, Clifford Berry, Marion, N.C., and Harold Berry of N.C.; four sisters, Trula Berry, Watauga, Susie Sneed, Elizabethton, Stella Benfield, Morganton, N.C., and Daisy Hodge, Morristown.
Graveside services were in the Clark Cemetery, Clarketown. Military Honors were provided by the VFW Post
No. 2166 and the Tennessee National Guard.
