Funeral Services Are Held for Parley Bagley

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 6 in the Fairview Ward LDS chapel for Parley Eugene Bagley, valley pioneer, who died Friday, Sept 3 at the home of his daughter Mrs Ed. Van Scoyk in Fairview. Bishop C. Stuart Brown conducted.
Prayer in the home was by Oliver Bagley, Prelude and postlude music was by Loa Allred. The invocation was offered by Charles Brown and the first speaker was Albert Barrus. Rose T. Manges was the next speaker, followed by a male quartet by Bud Pead and company. H.E. Child was next speaker and Mrs Annie Hood sang a solo. Willard Brown was the concluding speaker followed with remarks by Bp. Brown and the benediction by Sidney Bagley.
Pallbearers were Wayne Bagley Gerald Bagley, William Cone, Evern Draney, Rene Bagley and Elsworth Bagley.
Burial was in the Fairview cemetery. The grave was dedicated by Hugh Bagley. The Star Valley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Parley Eugene Bagley, son of Cyrenus Jackson and Clista Sophia Dalrymple Bagley was born June 10, 1892 in Montpelier Idaho the eldest son and second child in a family of eight children, five boys and three girls. He came to Star Valley at the age of two with his parents who made their first home on Crow Creek. At that time Star Valley was very new and he learned the hardships of pioneer life.
In 1913 he went on a two year LDS mission to the Eastern States. On June 7, 1916 he was united in marriage to Bertha Howell of Fish Haven, Idaho in the Salt Lake Temple. They had only one child, Mrs El Van Scoyk, because in October, 19, Bertha passed away of flu, leaving him to be father and mother to a little one year old daughter.
On October 14, 1920 he married Vera Crapo in the Logan Temple. To this union five children were born. He and Vera made their home on a farm up Bitter creek for many years where they raised their family and took part in ward activities.
On November 5, 1946 Vera passed away and once more he was left without a companion and practically alone as most of his children were married. He went out of the valley and found work in Ogden. While there on December 12. 1949. he married Clair Tueller an later they were sealed in the Logan Temple. They resided in the 31st Ward in Ogden the last six years.
He was a Seventy in the LDS church and had been active in church activity having been a counselor in the Sunday School superintendency, a Sunday School teacher, serving a stake mission term and filling a home missionary appointment for two years. He was also a counselor i the ward MIA.
He died September 3 at the home of his daughter, Mrs Ed. Van Scoyk in Fairview, after an illness of two years. He leaves to mourn his widow and the following children: Wayne Bagley of Ogden Utah; Rene Ward Bagley of Jackson Wyoming; Ruby (Mrs. Bill Cone) of salt Lake City; Gerald Bagley of Jackson, Wyoming; Cherril (Mrs Evern Draney) of Ogden Utah; eleven grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs Viola Puayle and Mrs Emogene Roberts; four brothers, Oliver, Hugh, Leis and Elsworth Bagley.
