Among the Harmons claiming descent from Philip Harmon and his son Philip, who came to North Carolina about 1750, was Daniel Harmon, who while yet in Rowan County North Carolina, married Mary Elliott. That family of Harmons began drifting West in 1795, when John and Philip (the Third) moved to Mount Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky.

This Daniel Harmon and Mary Elliott came into Indiana at a very early date and settled in Davis [Daviess, County], Northwest of the present city of Washington and not far from the White River.

Daniel and Mary Elliot Harmon were married 21 Nov 1804 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. They lived in North Carolina, then moved to Washington Daviess County, IN., as 1820 and 1830 they are listed in the Census. In 1840 and 1850 Census, we find them in Lawrence County, IL and Richland County, IL.

For the 1810 census he was with his wife and four children in Rowan County, North Carolina.

In 1814 Barren County, Kentucky

For the 1820 census he was with his wife and possibly eight children in Washington County, Indiana.

For the 1830 census he was with his wife and possibly eight children in Daviess County, Indiana.

Residence on 5 Nov 1850 • Clay & Richland Co. Ill- Daniel Harmon 70 NC Farmer- Mary 60 NC and daughter Elizabeth 20 (Nelson)Ind next door son Daniel Harmon & w/Sarah.
