Shirley Cameron was born November 29, 1939 at Briartown, Oklahoma the daughter of Virgil and Anna (Grinstead) Purdom. Shirley died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was 67 years of age.
The former Miss Shirley Purdom was a 1958 graduate of Haskell, Oklahoma High School where she was the Homecoming Queen. She married Charles Cameron on November 15, 1959 at Porum, Oklahoma. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1965 from Haskell. Shirley was a homemaker but was also a self-employed medical transcriptionist. She liked helping people, watching ball games and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, calling them often, not giving up until she finally reached them. She attended the First Church of The Nazarene.
