Jasper was the 5th child of Daniel Mack Luke, Sr and Sarah 'Sallie' Land. Jasper's son, Abraham James Luke, lost his life in the Civil War and is buried along side his grandfather, Daniel Mack Luke, six miles north of Nashville, Berrien Co., GA on what at the time was Jasper's farm, and it is now on private land..

Jasper is found as head of house in Irwin Co., GA; 1840 Irwin Dist 690; 1846 Irwin Tax List Dist 1 which became Wilcox in 1850 Irwin. In 1855 Irwin, GA he was named as one the commissioners for the laying out of Berrien Co., GA.

He is found in 1860 Berrien, GA. Jan 10 1861 served as Pvt in CSA Co K 29th GA Infantry a Brooks Co, GA unit, and he enlisted in Co D GA 29th GA Infantry on Oct 1 1861 a Lowndes Co, GA unit which he received a disability discharge on Jul 18 1862 and returned home. The Re-organization of the Militia Census of 1864 6th Senatorial Dist 1157 Militia Dist, which was Berrien Co, GA at that time, lists "...Luke, Jasper M., 50 yrs, 4 mos., Blacksmith, b. GA."

In 1870 Quitman, Brooks, GA # 71 as Jasper, a 45 yr old female as Mary [no relationships are give in 1870 census and no Sarah is listed] , and children Daniel, David and Mary. According to records, Jasper married only Sarah 'Sallie' Land. No record has been found to indicate her other name as Mary.

Jasper is next found in 1880 Bridge Creek Militia Dist 799, Colquitt Co, GA # 327 with wife Sarah, children David A, Mary J.

Jasper died in 1888, but there is no evidence that he was buried in Westview Cem, Moultrie, Colquitt Co, GA.
