She was united in marriage to Theocaneous "Cane" Dodd on April 18, 1867. To this union were born thirteen children. Her husband and six children preceded her to the heavenly home. Those remaining are Anna Pippin of Hidalgo, Flora Kinsel, Minta Crowley, and Rosa Brackett of Newton, William Dodd of Dugger, Indiana, Lola Devers of Paris, and Theo Dodd of Chicago.
Besides her seven children, Mrs. Dodd is survived by nineteen grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, J.N. Dulgar of Hidalgo; a half-sister, Mrs. Asa Percival of Newton; two half-brothers, Andy Dulgar of Rockville, Indiana, and James Dulgar of Rose Hill; besides many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mrs. Dodd united with the First Christian Church in early womanhood and lived true to her faith all her life. As long as her health permitted, she was loyal in her attendance and continued to be an inspiration to the church until the end. She was indeed a noble woman, a loving mother and grandmother, and a real neighbor and friend to all who knew her.
Truly, "Grandma Dodd," as she was most lovingly known, lived a full and useful life. No mortal soul could estimate the great blessing she has been to everyone with whom she came in contact. She labored through life['s full day, and when the shadows of night crept across her pathway, she slipped away from our sight to be with her loved companion and children in that eternal home. There they will await the coming in of the rest of the family, where they shall enjoy a wonderful reunion together on the evergreen shores.
Surely, her Heavenly Father must have welcomed her home at the portal with these blessed words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joys of thy Lord."
Funeral services were held with Rev. A. O. Jacobs of Olney officiating.
