Sara M. Lester, 93, of Manzanola passed away on February 19, 2015 at the Fowler Health Care Center. She was born on June 4, 1921 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania to James W. & Jane Grace (Loucks) Sherrick.

She served in theUS Army Nurse Corps WW2 in the European Theater. Sara was the director of the Ordway Nursing Home for 16 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 65 years, member of the Lions Club, member of Eastern Star, was a charter member of the Manzanola County Club, and a member of the Guild. She also taught kindergarten in its early years. She was an active volunteer at the Ft. Lyon Veterans Hospital, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her sons, Ron (Karen) Adams of Georgia, Wayne (Shirley) Adams of Manzanola; step-son, David (Orietta) Lester of Italy; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert Daniel Adams, second husband, Ralph D. Lester, sister, Lois Steele and brother, James W. Sherrick, II.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the First Christian Church of Manzanola, PO Box 174, Manzanola, CO, 81058 direct or through funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Manzanola with Reverend John Dell officiating.

Military honors will follow after service at the Fowler Cemetery.
