Oscar was the son of Carl Richard Schmaltz and Caroline Johanna Elisabeth "Lina" Blankenstein Schmaltz (Schroeder).
Oskar Gottfried Schmaltz was baptized May 20, 1885, and he was confirmed April 7, 1901, at Zion Evangelical Church in Waco, Texas.
He married Johanna Justine Meinscher on Oct. 25, 1911.
They were the parents of two sons and one daughter.

Schmaltz Rites To Be Saturday In Gerald Church

O. F. Schmaltz, Sr., age 86, of Leroy died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald. Rev. Otto Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in the Gerald Cemetery. Aderhold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schmaltz was a retired farmer and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald. He was born in Cleburne, moved to Waco in 1896 and had lived in Leroy since 1900.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. O. F. Schmaltz, Sr.; two sons, William H. Schmaltz and O. F. Schmaltz, Jr., both of Leroy; one daughter, Mrs. Justine Burmeister of Cuero; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
