Funeral services for Carrie Effie Rogers were held at Bladen Methodist Church Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Burial was at East Lawn Cemetery.
Carrie Effie Rogers, daughter of Edmund Denton and Maria Denton, was born October 24, 1874 in Menard County, Ill. and passed away from this world at a Holdrege, Nebraska hospital on June 6, 1963, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, 13 days.
She moved from Illinios to Oakland, Iowa in the early part of her life with her family. She was married to Emmett Rogers on August 14, 1895 at Council Bluffs, Ia. In 1902 they moved to Nebraska to a farm four miles north of Bladen where she maintained her residence until her death.
Her husband Emmett preceded her in death in 1956. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the previous year. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Edna Lewis, who preceded both of them in death and Mrs. Gladys Norgren of Holdrege.
Mrs. Rogers and her husband were well-known and respected members of the Bladen community during their many years of residence there. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Bladen Methodist Church since 1914. She was beloved by her relatives and by her neighbors and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jonas Norgren; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Bates of Oakland, Ia. and Mrs. Ann Hart of Atlantic, Ia.; three brothers, George Denton of Portland, Ore., Charles Denton of Kearney, and Harry Denton of Los Angeles, Calif.; a grandson, Donald Lewis of Grand Island and two great grandchildren, Kurt and Dianne Lewis.
