Martha Jane Danhausen, 68, of Limestone Township, died Thursday (Dec. 27, 2007).

Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens

Ms. Danhausen was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Kankakee. She is the daughter of Walter G. and Lillian Warner Bratton and was a member of a pioneering Kankakee County family. Ms. Danhausen received her Juris Doctor from Chicago Kent College of Law at the age of 48. She was a respected attorney in private practice in Kankakee since 1988 and later expanded with an office in Watseka. She was active in the legal community serving as treasurer of the Kankakee County Bar Association. In addition, she did pro bono work for Prairie State Legal Services and helped organize "Law Day" for children in the community.

She was the loving mother of three children, Kyle L. Danhausen of Limestone Township, Grant B. Danhausen of Washington, D.C., and Cynthia L. Jakob of Kankakee.

She is also survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ursula and Donald Crull, and Edith Ramirez, all of Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents.
