US Congressman. A 1922 graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, he served in World War I as a candidate in Officers' Training School for Infantry. He engaged in the lumber, oil, and banking businesses in Somerset, Pennsylvania, and was elected as a Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania to fill the vacancy caused by the death of J. Buell Snyder, serving from 1946 to 1947. He did not run for reelection and resumed his former business pursuits at Somerset.
