My dad wore a perpetual smile
I remember it oh so well
Extending a big, work worn hand
"Come on in, sit a spell."
Dad wore overalls most days
Until the chores were done
And with his homey fix it ways
To me, those chores were fun
Dad could fix most anything
A roller skate or a pony cart
He said the only thing he couldn't fix
Was an "old maids broken heart."
Yes, my dad was a fixit man
With a twinkle in his eye
"If your short on cash, then ma'm"
"I do like apple pie,"
Dad loved to dance and folks would say
That when he came to town
As long as the band would play
Dad could not sit down
Dad's home now is in the sky
With family and friends
He dances and eats apple pie
And the music never ends
