John William Adkins Jr., our loyal son, husband, father and grandpa, passed away on August 9, 2008 due to complications with Pancreatic Cancer. He died in Coalville, Utah at his home, surrounded by loving family.

John was born November 11, 1937 in Ogden, UT to John William Adkins "Bus" and Ella Mae Robertson. He graduated from North Summit High School. He married Shanna Judd on August 16, 1974 in Coalville, UT and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1978. John was a passionate man full of life and always optimistic under all circumstances. He was a highly successful business man that accomplished everything he did with great efficiency, detail and quality. Among his accomplishments in his business were world record mink prices and a quality mink pelt, whose natural beauty and rich black color, is still recognized today. John was also an avid outdoorsman, entrepreneur, well respected mink and cattle rancher, rifleman, and history buff, with a mind and memory like no other. John served in the Utah National Guard and on the American Mink Council and was well traveled throughout North America. He was highly passionate in the pursuit of everything he did. Above all, John was a family man. His love, selflessness, respect, devotion and faithfulness to his wife and children, were truly unconditional. He always spoke with a soft word and an honest tongue. His loyalty to his mother and father was undeviating.

John is survived by his wife Shanna, children; MarNae (Isaac) Lord, Shawnee (Brian) Cooper, Alaina (Kerry) Hoisington, John W. Adkins III (Michelle), mother Ella Mae Robertson Adkins, siblings; Louise Symes, Linda Griffin, Robert Adkins, Ella Mae Judd, Teri Siddoway, Lori Winters, Janet Jackson and two grandchildren: Tanner Lord and Talia Cooper. He was preceded in death by his father John "Bus" Adkins and his brother Frank Alexander Adkins.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Coalville Stake Center at 40 North Main Street in Coalville, Utah. The Family will receive Family and Friends on Wednesday, August 13 from 6-8 p.m. and from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday all at the Stake Center.
Interment: Coalville City Cemetery.
