Melvin A. Flicker, age 71, a resident of Pierz, MN, died May 29, 1995 at his home in Pierz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with the Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Melvin Alfred Flicker was born September 19, 1923 in Pierz Township, Morrison County, MN to the late Frank and Mary (Gross) Flicker. He grew up in Pierz, attended country school near his family farm and one year at the Little Falls High School. He was united in marriage to Marcella M. Sitzman on June 28, 1944 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. After their marriage the couple farmed on Melvin's family farm in Pierz Township until 1949, at which time he went to work on road construction as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1988. He was proud to be a 40 year member of the Internation Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. He loved hunting, fishing, working on his lawn and garden. He was a notorius teller of tall tales and very much loved his wife Marcella of 50 years, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella; sons and daughters, Dan Flicker of Little Falls, MN, Marn Flicker and wife Marie of Monticello, MN, Margie Zwingelberg and husband Mark of Winter Haven, FL, Mary Korf and husband Neil of Pierz, Marlys Lickteig of Hopkins, MN, Laurie Hayes and husband Pete of Rogers, MN, Lisa Nelson and husband Scott of Maple Grove, MN; brothers, Raymond Flicker of Carson City, NV and Ronald Flicker of Lake Isabella, CA; and a sister, Mrs. John "Laura" Grundhofer of Pierz; seven granddaughters and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Werner Flicker and an infant brother and infant sister.

Honorary pallbearers were Lee Meyer, Rich Maurer, Jim Shaft, Ralph Hoheisel, Gerald and Leon Flicker, Jim Priener and Don Wuellner.

Casketbearers were Bryan Flicker, J.J. Flicker, Michael Korf, Kevin Wipson, Herb Tabatt Jr., and Bruce Gagnelius.
