John Kennedy was born in Toronto, Ottawa Canada, November 1837. He died May 27, 1908. From Toronto, his immediate family moved to Mallet Creek Twp. in Medina County OH. There, he and three brothers enlisted in Company K, 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, for Civil War service. It appears that John transferred to the U.S. Navy in 1863. After the war all four brothers moved to Wisconsin. There John and his wife, Mary, born Nov. 1839, raised four children. One of them, Elton, is buried in Bovina Cemetery. Others, including Mary may be there also. It is possible that she may not have a headstone.
