Ruby D. Smith, 85
WHITE COTTAGE - Ruby D. Smith, 85, of South Zanesville, went to be with the Lord at 5:05 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006.
Born July 20, 1921, in Crooksville, she was a longtime resident of South Zanesville and a member of the United Pentecostal Church in New Lexington.
She was the beloved mother of the Rev. Basil H. (Eliza) Smith of Florida; and grandmother of Mark Smith, Steve (Janet) Smith and Daniel (Dottie) Smith, all of Florida. She is also survived by two brothers, Delmer Brown of Newark and the Rev. Denzil Brown of North Carolina; three sisters, Irene Young of New Lexington and Iva Spires and Louise Sons of South Zanesville; and many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, PFC Carl W. Smith Jr., U.S. Army; her parents, Elmer Brown and Della Goff Brown; two sisters, Inez Filkins and Ethel J. Hammer; and a very special niece, Debra Brown Ashley.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at the United Pentecostal Church in New Lexington with the Rev. Richard Young officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville Cemetery.
