Eugene "Chubby" Brooks, 92, passed away on July 22, 2008 in Canon City, CO. Chubby was born on June 14, 1916 in Coleman, TX to Eddie M. and Hannah E. (Peterson) Brooks.

On December 6, 1947, he married Mary Sue McMahan in Coleman, TX. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; and worked as a parts manager for Chrysler. Chubby was a member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion, and the Men?s Downtown Sunday School Class, all in Coleman, TX.

He is survived by his wife Mary Sue of Canon City, CO; children, Rosemary (Lance) McIntyre of Canon City, CO and Bill (Donny) Brooks of Elgin, TX; grandchildren, Chris (Joanna) McIntyre of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan McIntyre of Juneau, AK, Laura McIntyre of Boulder, CO, Andrea (Greg) Cloer of Elgin, TX, Jaclyn (Jon) Lock of New Sweden, TX, and Micheal (Jeni) Brooks of Slamersdorf, Germany; and one great granddaughter, Olivia Cloer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, CO. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 28, 2008 at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, CO with Stan Stockton officiating. Arrangements handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
