Johnnie Ray Nix, 97, was born March 4, 1908, and died Jan. 29, 2006. He lived all his life in the area of Ash Flat. He was a Christian, the oldest member of the Ash Flat United Methodist Church and a lifelong farmer.
"Poppa" Nix is survived by two grandchildren, Ella Van Thompson and her husband, Mack, along with Johnie Ray Hyslip and his wife, Barbara; three great-grandchildren, Amy Trivitt and her husband Tommy, Jason Hyslip and his wife, Brooke, and Grant Hyslip; three great-great-grandchildren, Rachel and Rylie Trivitt and Emma Hyslip, all of Ash Flat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie Robert and Ella Causbie Nix; six brothers and one sister; his wife of 67 years, Faye Orr Nix; and his daughter, Ella Lou Hyslip.
The funeral service was held Jan. 30 at the Ash Flat United Methodist Church with Johnny Carter officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery a Ash Flat with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Johnie Ray Hyslip, Mac Thompson, Tommy Trivitt, Jason Hyslip, Grant Hyslip and Stan Witt.
