ROYAL CITY - Violet Goggin Davis, 80, of Royal City, died Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, after an extended illness, in the Okanogan-Douglas County Hospital at Brewster.

She was born Oct. 8, 1915, the daughter of Milton and Tressie Mae (Wimmer) Goggin at Wellston, Okla.

She married Reis N. Davis on May 14, 1938, at Whittier, Calif., where their only child, James, was born May 8, 1941.

They returned to Wellston, Okla., where they were employed at Douglas Aircraft Co. in Oklahoma City during World War II. The family moved to La Harbra, Calif., in 1948, where Violet held various jobs until 1960, when she was employed at Nena's Boutique for 17 years and as manager for the last 10 years. She retired with her husband in 1979 and moved to Brewster, where they were partners with their son in an apple orchard on Brewster Flats, also raising Arabian horses.

They sold the orchard in 1989 and moved to Omak, with their son and daughter-in-law, where her husband died Feb. 16, 1993. In May of that year they moved to Royal City on a hay farm.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Her greatest pleasure was cooking delicious meals and treats for family and friends when they would drop by.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Velma Davis of Royal City; a granddaughter, Pamela Thornton of Riverside, Calif.; a grandson, Scott Davis of Royal City; a stepgranddaughter, Sinaloa Buchmann of Brewster; four stepgrandsons, Patrick Cahill of Coos Bay, Ore., Ronald Cahill of Mesa, Ariz., Jerome Cahill of Omak and Thomas Cahill of York, S.C.; three great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, June Ross of Brewster and Gladys Goggin of Parker, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reis, three older brothers and one great-granddaughter.

Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
