Farmer passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 in Colorado Springs at the age of 85. Joe was born north of Ellicott, Colorado on February 19, 1923.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Hazel (Soden) Farmer, four brothers, Jack, Buddy, Don and Dale. Joe met the love of his life Edna Owens in 1943 and they were married March 1, 1944, in Raton, New Mexico.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Joe Jr. (wife Joyce), Jerry (wife Susan), all in Boise City, Oklahoma and Dan (wife Teresa) of Ellicott and nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Joe attended school at Ellicott and then went to work at the North American defense plant in San Diego, California.

In 1943, he returned to the Ellicott area to start farming and dairying which he did until his retirement in 1994. He served on the school board of Ellicott for many years, the board of the Pikes Peak Co-op in Calhan and the Black Squirrel Soil Conservation District.

He learned to fly at the age of forty seven and started to downhill ski at fifty nine and continued to do both until late in life.

Joe and Edna enjoyed traveling and attending children and grandchildren activities.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July, 23, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, burial will be at Memorial Gardens, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
