On November 21, 1890 as Anna L. Nichols, she married George F. Goodnow at Near State Center, Marshall County, Iowa.
Anna M. Goodnow was struck by a Chicago and North Western freight train on Monday morning, August 9, 1930 in Zion, Illinois. She was taken to a hospital where she said she had thrown herself in front of the train to commit suicide. She died a few hours later. She was a resident of 373 Hazel Avenue in Glencoe, Illinois. She had just returned from a trip to Europe and was in good health and spirits. She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Goodnow, who was head of a mechanical engineering firm and President of the Standard Silica Company at Chicago. Survivors included two sons: Albert C. Goodnow of 679 Valley Road in Glencoe and George N. Goodnow of Toledo, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the chapel at 27 North Sheridan Road in Highland Park, Illinois. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery.
