Birth: Jan. 28, 1802
Death: Apr. 16, 1867

Elizabeth was born in North Carolina or Tennessee, the oldest daughter of John R and Mary Jane (James) Homesley. The family migrated to Kentucky and then Missouri, where she married her first husband, Michael Masters. The family was one of the earliest to settle in what is now Washington County, Arkansas. Michael died there in 1831 and his was the first recorded death of a non-native settler in the county. She was left with six children ranging in age from 1 to 12 years. In 1832, she married Jesse Hock and bore him five children. Elizabeth is listed as head of household in the 1850 census because Jesse had gone on the "Gold Rush". All of her Hock children survived to adulthood however, one daughter, Sarah Wood, died in childbirth in 1863 in Barry County. One son, George W, was killed during the Civil War and a daughter, Permenda, probably died before 1860. The elder daughter, Lucinda Evaline (Hock) Davis is buried in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
