Howard B. Slater was the son of Arvine "Birt" Slater and Irene Sheldon. He served gunnary ships during WWII. He was raised on his parents farm in Plymouth, NY and spent his life after the war painting commercial building, farms, homes, etc. He found the Lord at his son Gary's altar and lived the rest of his life as an Elder in the church. He was greatly loved by all who knew him. At the time of his death, he called all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to his bedside and blessed them and prayed for each one (like Abraham in the Bible). He also called in the hospital staff and prayed over them. Dr. Craig Riley was his attending physician and friend. At his death, his wife Mary climbed up on his bed with him, someone cried out, "Can you see the angels?" as the family surrounded this great man that would be Heaven's gain and this earth's loss.
